1882 GSA Carson City Morgan Dollar - NGC Certified MS63

Product Description
The rarest and most valued Morgan Silver Dollars are those minted at the Carson City mint. The Carson City Mint in Nevada existed for only 24 years and Morgan Dollars were minted there from 1878 to 1893. The Carson City Mint was established to mint coins from the silver mined from the rich Comstock Lode in the mountains near Carson City.
This particular Carson City Morgan Dollar is in a United States Government GSA case and is certified to be in uncirculated mint state (MS63) condition by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. The US Treasury discovered a hoard of these coins in their vaults during the 1960’s while conducting an audit. The coins had remained uncirculated, untouched and lost in obscurity in their vaults for almost 80 years. The US Treasury decided to offer these coins to the public during the early 1970’s. The coins were placed in special acrylic holders inside a storage box and auctioned off to the public by the Government Services Administration (GSA). The GSA Carson City Morgan Dollars have become extremely popular among collectors and investors.
The coin that you will receive comes in the original GSA acrylic case inside the original storage box. The original government serial-numbered certificate of authenticity is also included. The coin was later graded by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). NGC has placed their hologram band around the original GSA case indicating their certification.
